Debra Green
Director, Community Relations
Debra Green is Director of Community Relations for Medical Mutual. She oversees the development and execution of all community relations programs and serves as the Company’s principal corporate representative in community affairs.
In 1984, Ms. Green joined the Company in the Customer Service Department. After one year, she took a position in the Human Resources Department, where she became a Generalist in 1986. In that position, she was responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring and providing support for employees on a wide variety of workplace issues. In 1999, she joined the Corporate Communications department as Senior Community Relations Specialist and within the year was promoted to Manager. She was Manger of Community Relations until she was promoted to her current position in 2006.
A Cleveland native, Ms. Green graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Cleveland State University.
In 1999, Kaleidoscope Magazine selected her as one of the area’s leading women. In 2002, she was the recipient of the Woman of Professional Excellence Award, presented by the YWCA of Greater Cleveland. In 2004, Ms. Green was recognized by Kaleidoscope Magazine as a woman who makes a difference in the community. She is also a member of the 2006 Cleveland Bridge Builders Class.
A breast cancer survivor, Ms. Green is active in a variety of efforts in the fight against the disease. She has appeared on numerous local TV programs to discuss breast cancer. Ms. Green has appeared in ads sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic to raise breast cancer awareness. She has been recognized for her activities by The Gathering Place and Susan G. Koman for the Cure Foundation.
Ms. Green is involved in a number of charitable and civic activities. She is chairperson of SHARE, Medical Mutual’s employee volunteer committee, and she coordinates the Company’s Partners in Education program with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. She is on the board of the United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Recovery Resources and the Urban League of Greater Cleveland. She previously served on the boards of Dress for Success Cleveland and League of Women Voters Education Fund.
