Brien Shanahan
Director, Legal Affairs & Financial Investigations
Brien Shanahan is Director of Legal Affairs and Financial Investigations. He joined the company in 1989 and is the senior lawyer in the Legal Department. He handles general corporate matters, regulatory issues, information systems matters, transactional issues, intellectual property, e-law and mergers and acquisitions for the Company. With prior experience as a prosecutor, he also serves as Director of the Financial Investigations Department, the Company’s eight-person fraud special investigations unit. His past duties include management of the Subrogation and the High Dollar Audit Departments.
Mr. Shanahan earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Ohio Northern University. He is admitted to the Ohio Bar, the North Carolina Bar, the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Bar Association.
He is active at St. Dominic School and St. Ignatius High School.
