Sue Tyler
Executive Vice President, Chief Experience Officer
Sue Tyler is Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer (CXO) for Medical Mutual. Prior to her appointment as CXO in 2009, Ms. Tyler served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Medical Mutual and its subsidiaries.
In her new role, Ms. Tyler provides executive leadership to the growing life insurance group of Consumers Life Insurance Company. She is also responsible for corporate strategic planning and expansion.
The assignment of the CXO title comes from Ms. Tyler’s responsibility for a new consolidated operations unit serving the entire Medical Mutual Family of Companies. This new organization includes Claims & Customer Service, Financial Administration, Membership and Benefit Services, as well as third-party administration. Uniting these areas under common leadership creates a unique perspective on the customer experience.
Ms. Tyler joined the Company in February 2002, with extensive experience in insurance. After beginning her career in public accounting with Price Waterhouse, Ms. Tyler entered the insurance industry as a Finance Manager with Progressive Insurance. In nearly 10 years with Progressive, she held a variety of management positions including Division Controller and Auto Product Manager. As Senior Vice President of Marketing for a start-up division of another property and casualty company, she built a large multi-state auto insurance business. She ultimately served as Division President of that business. Her start-up experience also includes her efforts as founder and CEO of an independent insurance services organization.
Ms. Tyler received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Case Western Reserve University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
Ms. Tyler is committed to the greater Cleveland area and is keenly interested in economic development and education. She is Vice Chair of Cleveland Scholarship Programs, a college access program. Ms. Tyler serves as Co-Chair of the Education and Exhibits Committee and is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for The Great Lakes Science Center. She is a member of The City Club Board of Directors, the Chair of the Medical Mutual of Ohio Charitable Foundation, a founding member of In Counsel with Women and a 2004 graduate of Leadership Cleveland.
