Sue Tyler
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer
Sue Tyler is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Medical Mutual. She provides leadership and direction for the Actuarial, Healthcare Finance & Network Management, Finance, Financial Administration and Investment departments. She also serves as Treasurer of the Company's many subsidiaries, including Medical Mutual Services, Consumers Life Insurance Company and Carolina Care Plan.
Ms. Tyler joined the Company in February 2002 with extensive experience in insurance and finance. With several years of public accounting experience at Price Waterhouse, she entered the insurance industry as a Manager of Finance with Progressive Insurance. In nearly 10 years with Progressive, she held a variety of management positions including Division Controller and Auto Product Manager. She subsequently served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and then Division President of a multi-state auto insurer. Just prior to joining Medical Mutual, she founded and served as CEO of a startup insurance services company.
Ms. Tyler received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Case Western Reserve University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
Ms. Tyler is committed to the greater Cleveland area and is keenly interested in economic development and education. She is Vice Chair of Cleveland Scholarship Programs, a college access program that promotes educational awareness and opportunities to enrich our community and prepare the workforce of tomorrow. She serves as Co-Chair of the Education and Exhibits Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Board of Great Lakes Science Center. Ms. Tyler serves as chairperson of the Medical Mutual of Ohio Charitable Foundation. Ms. Tyler is also a member of Financial Executives International, a founding member of In Counsel with Women and a 2004 graduate of Leadership Cleveland.
