MEDICAL MUTUAL'S WEB SITE WINS OUTSTANDING WEB SITE AWARD

CLEVELAND – Interactive applications that service customers, providers and sales agents led Medical Mutual to be recognized for outstanding achievement in Web site development by the Web Marketing Association.

The company’s Web site, MedMutual.com, was recognized for its innovative design, functionality, presentation and content.

“Nice use of colors throughout the site,” said one judge. “Pleasing to the eye with a lot of useful information.”

Judges also praised the Web site for its “clean layout and menus,”in addition to its “easy navigation and offering of all the dynamic data one could want.”

“The site has a great amount of interactivity, which offers convenience to their customers,” said another judge

A record 1,300 sites from 19 countries were entered in this year’s competition. Entries were judged on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use and use of technology.

“We are very proud to be recognized with such a prestigious award,” said Chris Hoffman, Medical Mutual’s manager of Internet Communications. “We tried to design a Web site that was not only attractive in design, but one that our customers would find convenient and useful.”

Playing an important role in the Web site’s award-winning design was Antares Mangement Solutions, Medical Mutual’s technology subsidiary.

“Without Antares, we would not have been able to design a site that offers members, insurance brokers, doctors and hospitals in our networks the opportunity to conduct business in a much more efficient manner by using the Internet,” Hoffman added.

Those insured by Medical Mutual can check the status of their health insurance claims through the My Health Plan section of the company’s Web site.

The Web-based application allows Medical Mutual’s 1.5 million members to access claims and account information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The feature offers more convenience to those who may not be able to call the customer-service line during normal business hours or to those who prefer to use the Internet.

MedMutual.com also allows Medical Mutual’s brokers to have instant access to pricing and product information, which enables the company to enroll new members faster.

MyBrokerLink enhances the capabilities of Medical Mutual’s 4,600 brokers and agents and the company’s internal sales force by allowing them to access forms, product information, and news about industry trends online. A feature called Web Quote allows Medical Mutual’s high producing Royal Advantage Brokers to provide instant price quotes based on groups’ members and health information in April 2002. Different tiers of brokers have different levels of access to information on the site.
