OHIO FARM BUREAU HEALTH PLAN AWARDED TO MEDICAL MUTUAL OF OHIO

CLEVELAND – Medical Mutual and Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) have announced a new partnership to provide quality, affordable health insurance to OFBF's more than 230,000 members.

Effective January 1, 2008, Farm Bureau members will gain access to Medical Mutual's SuperMed provider network, the most comprehensive group of doctors, hospitals and other medical service providers in Ohio. Medical Mutual and OFBF have worked together to create an expanded health insurance product for their policyholders that will include a program designed to improve health and wellness.

Medical Mutual and the Farm Bureau will make the transition as smooth as possible for OFBF members who are currently Nationwide Health Plan customers.

“The Ohio Farm Bureau and Medical Mutual have many things in common,” said Kent Clapp, Medical Mutual’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Both were born and currently operate right here in Ohio. We are both pioneers in the insurance industry and place the satisfaction of our members as our number-one priority. We’re planning to make this a very successful partnership that will bring value to Farm Bureau members.”

“This new affiliation is good news for our members who need affordable, reliable health insurance,” said John C. (Jack) Fisher, OFBF's executive vice president. “Medical Mutual shares our commitment to helping our members stay healthy and being there for them when we're needed,” he added.

Fisher also expressed his appreciation to Nationwide Health Plan (NHP) officials who are working to assure the success of this new venture.

“As Nationwide moves its health care focus in a new direction, they remain an important partner in our work with Medical Mutual to provide our members with great products and great service,” he said.

Nationwide will be transitioning its Ohio Farm Bureau medical business to Medical Mutual, who will make its health insurance products easily accessible to Farm Bureau members through its comprehensive network of independent brokers, in addition to Nationwide agents located throughout Ohio. Medical Mutual will be offering to Farm Bureau members its individual health insurance product along with small-group and Medicare insurance in the near future. Farm Bureau members who currently have NHP products will soon receive complete information about the transition.
