Broader Healthcare Access, More Choices for Toledo School Employees
TOLEDO – The Toledo Public Schools Board of Education recently announced it has selected Medical Mutual of Ohio’s network of doctors and hospitals, the largest in the state, as its new healthcare network.
Daniel Romano, Toledo Public Schools treasurer, said the change takes effect July 1 and the district is making every effort to ensure a smooth transition to Medical Mutual’s network. “Employees will be receiving new medical cards in the mail prior to the July 1 effective date,” said Romano.
The new contract with the Toledo Public Schools substantially bolsters Medical Mutual’s growing presence in Toledo. “With both ProMedica and Mercy in our network, the Toledo Public School employees now have access to the broadest healthcare network at the most competitive rates,” said Kent W. Clapp, Medical Mutual’s CEO.
Romano said Toledo Public School employees should not incur any disruption to healthcare access or claims processing during the transition period. “We want to reassure our employees that this change was made after a great deal of research and deliberation and ultimately provides them with the best possible healthcare options in the area.”
Medical Mutual employs 500 at its Sylvania Avenue facility.
