THE REV. MARVIN McMICKLE TO SPEAK AT MEDICAL MUTUAL’S BREAST CANCER AWARENESS BREAKFAST

CLEVELAND – In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Medical Mutual of Ohio is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast, which will feature the Rev. Marvin McMickle and a fashion show with breast cancer survivors as models.

Rev. McMickle, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, will deliver the keynote address at the event, which honors and celebrates breast cancer survivors. The Medical Mutual of Ohio Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast will be held October 24, at The Hilton, 3663 Park East Drive, Beachwood.

According to American Cancer Society statistics, an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the U.S. during 2009 with about 1,910 new cases expected in men. Breast cancer ranks second as a cause of cancer death in women. However, the good news is that death rates for breast cancer have steadily decreased in women since 1990, with larger decreases in women younger than 50. The decrease in breast cancer death rates represents progress in both earlier detection and improved treatment.

The breakfast begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and seating is limited. This year, attendees can show their style and participate in the Hat Contest. Local milliner Dee Hall will be a special guest judge and has donated a custom designed hat as the grand prize. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of best vintage, most whimsical, best pink, most glamorous and overall best.
