Medical Mutual has a long history of partnering with Ohio-based nonprofits to support, develop and expand a wide variety of free and low-cost services in the communities we serve. These partnerships played a key role in the development of MedMutual Resource Connect — an online tool that connects Medical Mutual Care Navigators, members and their families with organizations and services that can lend a helping hand.

How It Works

The MedMutual Resource Connect platform couples Medical Mutual’s extensive, curated network of community partners and programs with findhelp.org — America’s leading social care network featuring more than 300,000 programs that provide help to millions nationwide. MedMutual Resource Connect is hyperlocal, free to use and easy to navigate, connecting our neighbors to food pantries, housing assistance programs, childcare, job training and more.

In addition to ensuring that people have access to services across Ohio, MedMutual Resource Connect is a helpful tool for nonprofit and other community organizations. Among its most useful services for these groups are appointment scheduling and referral and outcome tracking tools. Direction Home Akron Canton, which serves older adults and people with disabilities, deepened the extent of its offerings by using MedMutual Resource Connect to assist older adults with a variety of needs, including transportation and access to fresh foods. Nonprofits are invited to visit MedMutualResourceConnect.com to set up an account and explore the features that supercharge their reach.

A MedMutual Resource Connect Success Story

One success story started with Candy Thomas, a Medical Mutual Care Navigator. For more than a year, Candy had been working with a Medical Mutual member who was being cared for by his daughter. A conversation with the family left Candy feeling like his daughter may benefit from respite care, a service that gives the primary caregiver a break by providing short-term professional care. Candy used MedMutual Resource Connect to refer the daughter to an agency close to home and worked directly with the respite provider to arrange three months of service.

Testimonials

MedMutual Resource Connect has helped many of our members and trusted partners. See what these valued members have to say about their experience with the tool:

“Direction Home is proud to continue our partnership with Medical Mutual by linking older adults with the resources they need to remain successful in the community. MedMutual Resource Connect gives us another avenue to efficiently link people with the right support at the right time while sharing information vital to the coordination of care.”

- Gary L. Cook, Direction Home President and CEO

“I’ve been a caretaker to my parents for quite a long time, always thinking I could manage without a break. It wasn’t until Candy, who I had been working with for over a year, helped connect me with a resource that would not only provide care to my father but also care for me by allowing me to do simple things for myself, such as renewing my license plates.”
