Medical Mutual’s team of “elves” have been making holiday wishes come true for seniors and families in need across Ohio this holiday season through partnerships with the following organizations: the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult ServicesThe CocoonYMCA of Central OhioSt. Vincent Family CenterMiami Valley Child Development Center and Daybreak.

Elves for Elders

Medical Mutual teamed up with the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) and brought joy to more than 200 older adults in Cuyahoga County. Through DSAS’s annual Elves for Elders holiday giving campaign, seniors were asked to create wish lists for Medical Mutual employees, who signed up to become “elves” and fulfill their wishes.

Employees purchased gifts for 150 seniors across the county who receive support through DSAS and for all 56 residents of the Fairway Manor Senior Apartments on Cleveland’s west side. Staff members from both Medical Mutual and DSAS kicked off the season on December 12th by hand-delivering these gifts to each Fairway Manor resident. Residents also received a $150 gift card to Discount Drug Mart to lessen the burden of rising grocery costs.

Holiday Assistance with The Cocoon

Medical Mutual’s elves also stopped by The Cocoon of Toledo to support families involved in their 2022 Holiday Assistance Program. The Cocoon is a comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency providing shelter and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, stalking and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Seven families in the program received items from their holiday wish lists with the help of Medical Mutual employees. Medical Mutual has partnered with the Cocoon on various projects over the past four years, and our entire organization is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on families this year.

“People are at the core of what we do as a health insurer, and the holidays are a perfect time in the year where our employees express their appreciation and gratitude to organizations within our community,” says Jonathon Fauvie, Medical Mutual’s Senior Community Affairs Specialist.
