Finding the right Ohio health insurance plan can feel overwhelming. If you do not get health insurance through an employer, an Individual and Family health plan can provide coverage and essential health benefits for you, your spouse or other eligible dependents.
Medical Mutual offers ACA-compliant health insurance plans designed for the needs and budgets of Ohio individuals and families.
Medical Mutual ACA health plans
ACA health plans provide comprehensive health insurance coverage as well as protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Medical Mutual’s Individual and Family health plans are ACA-compliant, which means they include important consumer protection and comprehensive health coverage. ACA-compliant plans cover essential health benefits, including:
- Doctor and specialist visits
- Hospital and emergency care
- Preventive and wellness services, such as screenings
- Prescription drug coverage
- Mental health treatment
Medical Mutual also offers supplemental insurance options, while short-term coverage may be available for temporary needs and may not include the same benefits or protections as an ACA plan. Medical Mutual Individual and Family plans also feature:
- $0 copays for preventive care
- $0 copays for on-demand telehealth*
- $0 copays for select generic drugs
- $50 wellness reward for completing the MedMutual WELL® program
- Benefits from other wellness perks, like discounts on healthy meal delivery, fitness equipment, Vitamix® products, WeightWatchers® and more
Short-term coverage may be available for temporary needs. These plans do not meet all ACA requirements and may exclude certain services, limit benefits or not cover pre-existing conditions. Review the coverage, exclusions and costs carefully before enrolling.
When can you enroll in an Ohio ACA Marketplace plan?
You may qualify for income-based savings that lower your monthly health insurance costs. Eligibility generally depends on your household income, family size and information provided when you apply through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Most people enroll in ACA Marketplace health insurance during the annual Open Enrollment Period (OEP), which runs Nov. 1 through Jan. 15. However, you may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you experience a qualifying life event, including:
- Losing employer-sponsored health insurance
- Getting married
- Having a baby or adopting a child
- Moving to a new coverage area
Marketplace savings are available only with eligible plans, so review your options to find coverage that fits your needs and budget. You also may qualify for subsidies that will help pay your monthly premiums. Use our subsidy calculator to see if you are eligible.
