Things to Consider When Choosing Your Health Plan

Doctors and Hospitals

Look for a health plan that includes the doctors, hospitals and other medical facilities you would like to use. You can check to see which doctors are included in our Individual and Family networks by using our Provider Directory.

Prescription Drugs

If you take any prescription medications, review our ACA Advantage Formulary – a list of covered drugs – to see if they are covered. Our formulary includes many preventive medications that may help you avoid serious illness and maintain good health.

Dental and Vision Coverage

Medical Mutual offers Individual and Family dental and vision coverage. Consider purchasing a dental plan and/or vision plan to help strengthen your coverage and lower your out-of-pocket costs.

Consider Your Health Needs and Costs

If you are nervous about unexpected healthcare costs, getting a plan with more coverage can make you feel more secure. Each plan has different levels of coverage and costs associated with it so select a plan that is best based on your health needs.

If you don’t visit the doctor often, or only for your yearly wellness visit, a low-premium, high-deductible plan may be best suited for you. This means you will pay more when you visit the doctor (the deductible) but will have a lower monthly premium. If you expect to use the doctor often, a higher-premium, lower-deductible plan may be better option.

Short-Term Health Coverage

If you are in a period of transition and need temporary health insurance, a short-term plan may be right for you. Our short-term plan lets you pick your length of coverage up to 364 days with options starting as soon as the next day.
