Urgent Care

Urgent care centers are usually facilities separate from hospitals or emergency rooms, that offer treatment for walk-ins without a scheduled appointment. Urgent care centers primarily treat urgent-cies that are non-life threatening and do not typically rise to the level of an emergency.

Common Urgent-cies:

  • Accidents and falls
  • Cuts that don't involve much blood but might need stitches
  • Breathing difficulties, such as mild to moderate asthma
  • Diagnostic services, including X-rays and laboratory tests
  • Eye irritation or infection
  • Fever or flu
  • Minor broken bones and fractures in fingers or toes
  • Moderate back problems
  • Severe sore throat or cough
  • Sprains and strains
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vomiting, diarrhea or dehydration

Things to Do Before Seeking Care:

  • Call Medical Mutual’s Nurse Line for advice on where to direct your care.
  • Make a list of existing medical conditions and current prescription medications.
  • Have your Medical Mutual member ID card or the mobile app available.
  • Check where the nearest in-network urgent care is located and how you would get there.
  • Confirm who could watch your children or an elder family member on short notice if necessary.
  • Know your options for translation services.
