Glasses or contact lenses are costly vision care expenses, as are annual examinations. That’s why Medical Mutual offers group vision plans designed to provide you and your employees with comprehensive coverage at the right price and with less hassle. Our plans offer eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lens benefits through either Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) group vision plans or Traditional group vision plans with no network restrictions.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Group Vision Plans
Through our PPO arrangements, employers can choose from a variety of plans that use either the EyeMed Access network or Vision Service Plan (VSP) Choice network. Both networks are nationwide and offer cost-effective options for choosing optometrists and ophthalmologists, eyeglass retailers and other vision services.
EyeMed offers the vision network employees want. EyeMed’s Access network is the nation’s largest vision network and 98% of members use an in-network provider. EyeMed includes the right mix of independent, regional, and national retailer providers including LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Target Optical, Sears Optical and more. EyeMed members save an average of 71% off retail. And with online, in-network options such as Glasses.com, ContactsDirect, Ray-Ban.com and LensCrafters.com, members can access and use their vision benefits right from their PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, making vision benefits easier than ever.
VSP has over 81,000 vision care providers across the country. VSPs network consists of retail providers, private optometrists and ophthalmologists. A few of the retail providers located in Ohio are Costco, Visionworks and Pearle Vision. All VSP Providers are one stop shopping offering both eye exams and optical dispensing locations. Most are open evenings and weekends.
Access to vision benefits is easy. Your employees simply visit one of the many participating network optical providers and present their Medical Mutual health plan identification card. The provider verifies eligibility, plan benefits and any fees that apply. There are:
- No prior authorizations or referrals needed
- No claim forms to fill out
- No waiting for reimbursement
Even if an employee exhausts his or her regular benefit, savings on vision services are still available through discount arrangements.
Traditional Group Vision Plans
Medical Mutual also offers a number of Traditional vision plan designs with no network restrictions for groups with more than 100 employees. With a Traditional vision plan, your employees will receive first-rate vision coverage from the provider of their choosing. Traditional vision plans provide benefits for covered ophthalmologist, optometrist and optician services. Your employees have access to regular eye care including exams, frames, lenses or contact lenses.
