Medical Mutual offers both preferred provider organization (PPO) and health maintenance organization (HMO) Medicare Advantage plan options. MedMutual Advantage PPO plans offer you the most flexibility of our Medicare Advantage plans when it comes to picking a doctor or hospital. You can keep out-of-pocket costs lower by using in-network providers, but you have the flexibility to use an out-of-network provider and still be covered. MedMutual Advantage HMO plans let you stretch your healthcare dollar with premiums as low as $0 and affordable out-of-pocket costs. Our HMO plans offer you a large network of high-quality providers to coordinate your care.

New Medicare Star Ratings for 2021

Our commitment to customer care has been reflected in our star ratings. For 2021, our PPO plans earned a 4.5 out of 5-star rating, making it the highest rated PPO plan in the state. Our HMO plans have a 4 out of 5-star rating with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Comparing a PPO Plan with an HMO Plan

MedMutual Advantage PPO and HMO plans have similar benefits, but you should know the key differences before choosing a plan.

PPO Plans  HMO Plans
PPO plans provide access to our large network of providers, but also offer the flexibility and coverage to receive care from out-of-network providers. These plans generally cost more, and services obtained outside the network will usually result in higher out-of-pocket costs.  HMO plans offer affordable, cost-effective healthcare options when utilizing our strong network of providers. While HMO plans often cost less than PPO plans, they require you to use in-network providers or services will not be covered except for emergency care, out-of-area urgent care or out-of-area dialysis.
