Term Life Insurance

Group term life insurance helps your employees prepare financially in case of an untimely death. As an employer, you have the flexibility to choose a life insurance plan based either on employee salary or a flat benefit amount.

Our standard life insurance plans have benefits that pay for death occurring anytime, anywhere, and from any cause.

Coverage also includes:

  • Premium waiver if an employee is disabled before age 60 – if an employee becomes totally disabled while covered under the life insurance policy, we continue providing the life insurance benefit without further premium payment. Conversion privilege – an employee can change group life coverage to an individual life policy if part or all of his or her life insurance ends because her or she is no longer employed or no longer part of an eligible class.
  • Conversion privilege – an employee can change group life coverage to an individual life policy if part or all of his or her life insurance ends because her or she is no longer employed or no longer part of an eligible class.
  • Accelerated death benefit – we pay part of the life insurance benefit’s total amount when the insured is terminally ill (if he/she or the legal representative picks the benefit and provides satisfactory proof). This benefit is paid in one lump sum to the insured.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

Enhance your employee benefits package with our group accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance plans. Our plans pay a benefit if a covered employee dies or is seriously injured because of an accident. Our plans include 24-hour coverage, meaning we provide benefits whether the injury was at work or not.

AD&D insurance coverage also includes:

  • Seatbelt benefit – pays an additional benefit if the employee dies driving or riding in an automobile while wearing a seatbelt.
  • Airbag benefit – pays an additional benefit if the employee dies driving or riding in an automobile that has a factory-installed airbag while wearing a seat belt. The police report must establish that the air bag inflated on impact.
  • Repatriation benefit – pays a benefit for the employee’s body to be prepared and transported to a mortuary if he or she dies more than 75 miles away from his or her principal address.
  • Dependent education benefit – pays benefit installments to the employee’s eligible dependent student if the employee dies.
  • Coma benefit – If an injury occurs because of an accident, we will pay the employee or his or her legal representative an additional benefit (if the employee becomes comatose within 31 days of the accident and remains comatose beyond the waiting period). The waiting period is 31 days period the date the employee becomes comatose.
  • Payment for quadriplegia, paraplegia and uniplegia – if any of these happen to the employee while covered, he or she may receive a percentage of the dismemberment benefits.

Short-term Disability Insurance

MedMutual Life short-term disability insurance provides affordable coverage to help replace lost income in the event of a non-work related accident or illness that prevents an employee from working. These plans serve as income replacement, helping your employees pay for monthly expenses while they recover.

We offer several plan group short-term disability insurance options, and, with all products, your employees benefit from:

  • Lump-sum payment of a maternity benefit
  • Direct deposit (i.e. ACH) of benefit payments into a bank account

Long-term Disability Insurance

If one of your employees has an unexpected illness or injury that limits his or her ability to work for an extended time period, long-term disability insurance can help.

Many people think savings or Social Security will be enough to help a disabled worker cover expenses. Unfortunately, most Social Security disability claims are initially denied and savings are usually not enough to cover expenses for a long period of time. Long-term disability coverage can help by replacing monthly income.

Group long-term disability insurance plan benefits include:

  • Residual disability (partial disability) – pays a percentage of the employee’s total disability benefit if he or she becomes partially disabled.
  • Full family integration – integrates long-term disability benefits with applicable Social Security benefits.
  • Dependent education* – provides a monthly benefit to help cover education costs if an employee is disabled and has an eligible dependent student.
  • Extended care* – pays an additional benefit to the employee if he or she must stay in an extended stay facility.
  • Dependent care* – gives an additional benefit to the employee if he or she is disabled and has a dependent who needs dependent care.
  • Personal care assistance – provides the employee with a monthly benefit at the end of the maximum benefit period if he or she loses the ability to do two or more daily activities.
  • Employee assistance program* – offers services for employees and their families experiencing personal and professional issues and helps employers manage the workplace issues they face. This program is available for everyday and crisis situations.
  • Workplace modification – reimburses employers who must make special accommodations to allow a disabled employee to return to work.
  • Vocational rehabilitation – gives assistance and coordination with return-to-work services.
  • Lump sum survivor benefit – if the insured dies while receiving benefit payments, the spouse or unmarried eligible children can qualify for a lump sum survivor benefit.

*Please note: These benefits are optional and not included in our standard policies. You can add these benefits for an additional cost.
