Medical Mutual and the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce have worked together since the early 1990s to offer affordable health insurance to chamber member companies.

COSE Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA)

The Richland Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with COSE and Medical Mutual to offer the COSE Health and Wellness Trust, also known as the COSE MEWA. This is a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA) designed as a self-funded health benefit option for businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

Benefits of MEWA:

  • Offers a variety of different plan options, including traditional copay plans, health savings account (HSA) plans and health reimbursement account (HRA) plans.
  • More savings passed along to you and your employees because the COSE MEWA is not subject to some of the ACA-mandated benefits, taxes and fees.
  • May be less expensive than similar plans offered under the ACA.
  • Stop-loss coverage is available to protect from large financial losses.
  • Prescription drug benefits are included with every COSE MEWA plan.
  • Ancillary benefits such as dental, vision and life insurance can be added to the plan.

Other Plan Options

We want to make sure you select the right health insurance plan for you and your employees. If the COSE MEWA is not the right choice for your business, please consider ACA plans through the Richland Area chamber from Medical Mutual. View our compliant ACA plans, other self-insured plans and more. As a Richland Area chamber member, if the number of employees in your business is between 2-500 employees, your business will receive a 1.4 percent premium tax savings on ACA group plans.
